The Nigeria Union of Teachers, Oyo State Wing, is worried about the kidnapping of a primary school headmaster in Itesiwaju Local Government Area. They are demanding his quick rescue.
The union shared this in a statement signed by the State Chairman, Hassan Fatai, and the State Secretary, Salami Olukayode. The statement was given to journalists in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.
They reported that M.K. Owoade, the headmaster of Nomadic Basic School, Ogodu, Igbojaye, was taken from his farm on Saturday, July 11, 2026, around 5 pm.
The Itesiwaju Local Government branch of the NUT alerted the state leadership about the incident. They sent an urgent notice to all members.
“The situation is disturbing and highlights the growing security issues facing teachers and education workers across Nigeria,” the union said.
The NUT leadership urged the government, security agencies, and relevant authorities to work harder for the quick rescue of the abducted headmaster. They want to ensure the safety of teachers and all citizens in their communities and workplaces.
“We call on the government, security agencies, and relevant authorities to intensify efforts to secure the immediate rescue of the abducted headmaster and ensure the safety of teachers and all citizens within the communities and their workplaces,” Oyo NUT said.
The union showed support for the family, colleagues, and pupils of the victim. They prayed for his safe return and told members to stay alert.
The union also prayed that God would protect people from insecurity and bring the abducted headmaster back safely and quickly.
