Operatives of the Ogun State Police have stopped a suspected cult initiation in Isara-Remo. They arrested 30 people during a raid on an uncompleted building where the meeting was happening.

The police spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, shared this in a statement on Thursday.

He said the operation was done by the Violent Crime Response Unit with help from detectives in the Isara Area Command and Isara Division. They acted on reliable information.

Babaseyi explained that the suspects gathered for an illegal assembly. This included cult-related activities, drinking alcohol, and initiation rites.

He noted, "The operation took place on 16th June 2026 at about 4:00 PM, after credible intelligence showed that a group of suspected hoodlums had come together at an uncompleted building in Isara-Remo for an unlawful gathering. This included activities like drinking alcohol, chanting, and attempts at initiation."

"Following the intelligence, the Commander of the VCRU quickly assembled a team from the Unit, Isara Area Command, and Isara Division. The operatives arrived at the location, broke up the gathering, and arrested the suspects in a well-planned operation."

"Four vehicles left behind during the attempted escape were recovered at the scene. They also found items like one jack knife, one local drum, one sekere (rattle), and bottles believed to have been used for drinking alcohol during the illegal gathering."

The arrested suspects include Muiz Olawale, Adeniji Akinwale, Ajayi Victor, Damilola Oluwasegun, Adewale Olayemi, Aminu Rahmon, Olodudu Ademola, Matthew Imoleayo, Adenle Habeb, Lekan Qudus, Olamilekan Ayanleke, Adegbasa Ezekiel, Ibukun Adeniyi, Abiodun Babatunde, Oshofolahan Michael, and Salau Adedeji.

The Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, praised the operatives for their quick and professional response.

Ojajuni also asked residents to be watchful and report any suspicious gatherings or criminal activities to security agencies.
