Bola Oyebamiji, the All Progressives Congress candidate for the upcoming Osun State governorship election, said on Thursday that he will ensure fair sharing of public resources if he becomes governor.

Speaking at a rally in Ile-Ife, Osun State, he kicked off his campaign and shared his plans for various sectors and communities in the state.

Before the rally, Oyebamiji paid a visit to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, at his palace. He mentioned that his team has looked into the state of roads in the Ile-Ife area and has sent a report to him.

He said, "By the grace of God, when I become your governor, we will start work on the Enuwa, Fajuyi Junction Road. We have also checked the Ilare, Sabo Road and Aderemi Road leading to Ondo Road.

"We will fix all the broken primary schools in Ile-Ife. We also plan to build a modern market that suits Ile-Ife as the birthplace of the Yoruba race. We want a great market that will show anyone visiting from anywhere in the world that this is the birthplace of the Yoruba race."

While addressing his supporters at the rally, Oyebamiji also promised to provide regular training for civil servants, both in Nigeria and abroad.

He added, "We will not practice favoritism. We will ensure fair sharing of state resources across towns. We won’t deceive you. I assure our civil servants of regular training, both at home and abroad.

"We won’t mislead you like the current government. Our hospitals are in bad shape and lack enough staff. Our administration will motivate health workers to stay in the country and work. We will provide farmers with hybrid seeds to boost production.

"Our agricultural policy will encourage workers to take up farming and change Osun through agriculture. Transport unions are important to us. We will help your unions to improve operations for the benefit of members and drivers."

The PUNCH reports that voters in Osun will cast their votes on Saturday, August 15, to choose a new governor. Fourteen political parties, including the ruling Accord Party, are running candidates in the election.
