The Jigawa State Police have taken 24 vehicles and brought their owners to court. This action is part of a statewide campaign to boost security and public safety.

The news came from a statement shared with journalists in Dutse, the state capital, by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Shi’isu Adam, on Thursday.

Adam said the police are stepping up efforts to enforce traffic and vehicle registration rules across the state. He noted that this drive is part of the police's aim to improve public safety and ensure that everyone follows the laws about using vehicles on public roads.

The police operation focused on offences that help people hide their vehicles from security checks.

“Drivers using vehicles with unauthorised coverings on registration number plates, defaced or unclear number plates, and cars without registration numbers were stopped,” Adam explained.

He also mentioned that vehicles showing manufacturers’ logos or decorative emblems instead of proper registration plates were seized. Cars with unauthorised tinted windows were also included in the enforcement.

Adam warned that these violations make it harder for police to do their job and can help criminals escape capture.

“These violations hinder effective policing, make crime detection and investigation difficult, and help criminals avoid being identified and prosecuted,” he said.

He confirmed that “24 vehicles found to break the rules were seized and their owners taken to court for prosecution according to the law.”

He urged vehicle owners to get their documents in order and follow registration rules to avoid trouble.

“The command advises vehicle owners and drivers to remove all unauthorised coverings from their number plates, replace damaged plates, stop showing manufacturers’ logos instead of proper number plates, and comply with rules about tinted windows,” the PPRO stated.

He emphasized that the enforcement will continue in all 27 local government areas of the state and warned that anyone breaking the law will be arrested and prosecuted.

“The enforcement is not meant to trouble law-abiding citizens but to promote public safety, improve security, and ensure everyone follows the rules. The drive will continue in the state, and anyone found breaking these rules will be arrested and prosecuted,” he said.

Adam added that the command appreciates the support of residents and asks for continued help to keep the state safe.
