The Kebbi State Police have arrested four people linked to the recent violent clash between farmers and herders in Gulma Town, Argungu Local Government Area. This clash resulted in the deaths of eight individuals.

The police shared this news in a statement on Thursday from SP Bashir Usman, the Police Public Relations Officer. He mentioned that the suspects would soon face a court.

The arrested suspects are Adamu Madugu from Gulma, Musa Makera from Sauwa, Saidu Adamu from Sauwa, and Shafi’u Hamza from Gulma.

According to the police, the suspects will be charged with criminal conspiracy, unlawful assembly, and culpable homicide. The statement detailed, "The suspects, Adamu Madugu (male, Gulma), Musa Makera (male, Sauwa), Saidu Adamu (male, Sauwa), and Shafi’u Hamza (male, Gulma), are scheduled to be arraigned before a competent court on charges of Criminal Conspiracy, Unlawful Assembly, and Culpable Homicide."

The police also mentioned that they are working hard to find other people involved in the clash who are still on the run. The statement added, "The Command has intensified efforts to identify, arrest, and bring to justice all other persons linked to the incident who are currently at large."

The violent clash happened earlier this week in Gulma and was reportedly due to long-standing tensions between farming and herding communities. This conflict turned deadly, raising security worries in the area.

In response, the Commissioner of Police in Kebbi State, CP Umar Hadejia, promised residents that the police will pursue justice for the victims and their families. Hadejia said, "The Command will pursue the matter to its logical conclusion and ensure that all persons found culpable face the full weight of the law."

He also asked the residents to keep the peace and work with security agencies. The CP urged everyone to stay calm, obey the law, and avoid taking matters into their own hands while investigations are underway.

The police command reiterated its commitment to keeping peace and security in the state, emphasizing that more updates will come as the investigation continues.
