President Bola Tinubu has brought back Pokop Bupwatda as the Chief Medical Director of the Jos University Teaching Hospital in Plateau State.
This reappointment starts from 30 August.
A statement from Bridget Omini, who is the Assistant Director of Information, Protocol and Public Relations at JUTH, shared the news.
The statement mentioned that the hospital's management, staff, and patients congratulated Bupwatda on his new term and thanked Tinubu for trusting the hospital's leadership.
Bupwatda expressed his gratitude to the president for the trust and promised to build on the successes of his first tenure.
He stated that his focus would be on improving healthcare services, developing infrastructure, and taking care of staff welfare in line with the federal government’s Renewed Hope Agenda for health.
Bupwatda is a medical doctor and public health consultant. He has spent many years at JUTH, moving up through different clinical and administrative roles.
Before he became the Chief Medical Director, he was the Chairman of the hospital’s Medical Advisory Committee and then served as Acting Chief Medical Director.
He officially became the Chief Medical Director in 2022 and started work on 30 August that same year.
Since he took office, Bupwatda has led efforts to improve healthcare services and enhance the hospital's facilities and systems.
His leadership has also focused on digital changes and reforms, including expanding electronic medical records and improving diagnostic services at the hospital.
With his reappointment, Bupwatda is set to keep pushing forward with ongoing reforms while tackling issues affecting healthcare delivery at this key health institution in Plateau State.
JUTH remains dedicated to offering quality, accessible, and affordable tertiary healthcare services to patients in Plateau State and beyond.
