Tinubu suspends three officials over fake agency and orders arrest of promoter

President Bola Tinubu has suspended three permanent secretaries after finding out about a new fake agency.

This fake agency is called the National Brands Development and Made in Nigeria Special Project Office. It was said to be operating from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

The three permanent secretaries involved are M.S. Danjuma, Nadungu Gagare, and Richard P. Pheelangwah.

The president also ordered the immediate arrest of the person behind the fake agency, George Buchi Nwabueze.

Musa Aliyu, the chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), shared this news with reporters at the State House on Friday. He revealed that Nwabueze “was discovered to also operate under four other variations of names.”

These other names include “George Nathan, George Nathan Nwabueze, Hon. George Buchi Nwabueze, Prince George Buchi Nwabueze and George Nwabueze.”

“I have briefed Mr President fully on these new findings. The ICPC will keep investigating,” the ICPC chairman stated.

The discovery of this new fake agency is part of ICPC’s ongoing investigations into the alleged fake Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC).

After briefing President Tinubu on 6 August about the commission’s interim report, Mr Aliyu said they found two more fake agencies.

He mentioned that he submitted the interim report on 6 August, exactly 30 days after the President ordered the investigation.

Mr Aliyu also said the commission suggested that the self-proclaimed Director-General of the organization, Adeniyi Adeyemi, should be prosecuted for forgery, impersonation, and other related crimes.
