President Bola Tinubu has reappointed Pokop Bupwatda as the Chief Medical Director of the Jos University Teaching Hospital in Plateau State.

This reappointment starts from 30 August.

The news came in a statement signed by Bridget Omini, who is the Assistant Director of Information, Protocol and Public Relations at JUTH.

The statement mentioned that the management, staff, and patients of the hospital congratulated Bupwatda on his new term and thanked Tinubu for trusting the hospital’s leadership.

Bupwatda expressed his gratitude to the president for the trust placed in him. He promised to build on what he achieved during his first term.

He said his administration would keep focusing on better healthcare delivery, developing infrastructure, and improving staff welfare. This is in line with the federal government's Renewed Hope Agenda for the health sector.

Bupwatda is a medical practitioner and public health consultant. He has worked at JUTH for many years, rising through different clinical and administrative roles.

Before he became the official CMD, he was the Chairman of the hospital’s Medical Advisory Committee and later served as Acting Chief Medical Director.

He was officially appointed as CMD in 2022 and took office on 30 August of that year.

Since he took over, Bupwatda has led efforts to improve healthcare delivery and develop the hospital’s facilities and systems.

His administration has also worked on digital transformation and reforms, including expanding electronic medical records and enhancing diagnostic services at the hospital.

With his reappointment, Bupwatda is expected to keep up with ongoing reforms while tackling the challenges facing healthcare delivery at the top tertiary hospital in Plateau State.

JUTH is committed to offering quality, accessible, and affordable healthcare services to patients in Plateau State and beyond.
