The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Edo State Command has sent out 1,300 officers across the three senatorial districts for the local government election coming up on Saturday, July 11, 2026.

This information came from a statement by the NSCDC spokesman, Ogbebor Efosa, on Wednesday.

Efosa said the NSCDC is ready to protect lives and property, and important national assets before, during, and after the election. He also mentioned that all necessary security plans are in place.

The statement said, “The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Edo State Command has deployed 1,300 personnel across the three senatorial districts ahead of the LG election on Saturday.

“The state Commandant, Akintayo Ayinla, assured the people of Edo State that the command is ready to carry out its duties and provide a safe environment for a peaceful election.”

The spokesman, on behalf of the commandant, urged all political parties, candidates, their supporters, and other stakeholders to follow the electoral laws. He asked them to avoid violence and electoral malpractice, and to act peacefully during the election.

He also confirmed that the Command will work closely with other security agencies to make sure the local government election is free, fair, credible, and peaceful across Edo State.

He encouraged eligible voters to come out and fulfill their civic duty without fear, promising them adequate security during the electoral process.

This deployment is part of the plan by security agencies to ensure a smooth election as political parties compete for control of the 18 local government areas in the state.

The Edo State Independent Electoral Commission has set Saturday, July 11, 2026, for the local government election. Candidates from different political parties are expected to run for chairmanship and councillorship positions throughout the state.
