Delta APC Promises Campaign Focused on Issues for 2027 Elections

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State has promised to run a campaign focused on issues as the 2027 general elections approach. They made this known while introducing the members of their Media and Publicity Committee to journalists in Asaba on Monday.

The party urged all political actors to avoid violence and inflammatory statements that could disturb the peace in the state.

Charles Aniagwu, the Chairman of the Media and Publicity Committee for the Delta State APC Campaign Council, introduced other committee members to the press. The members include Valentine Onojeguo (Vice Chairman), Timi Tonye (Secretary), Festus Ahon, Kelly Okolugbo, and Jackson Ekwugum.

Aniagwu said the party would concentrate on the performance of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, along with their policies and programs.

He assured journalists that the committee would collaborate with them to make sure the public gets accurate information about the candidates and their plans.

According to him, "the committee's responsibility extends beyond the governor and the president to cover all APC candidates contesting elections into the State House of Assembly, House of Representatives, and Senate.

"We will stay with the issues," Aniagwu said.

He asked journalists to team up with the committee to share the party's message with the voters. He added that the campaign would focus on governance and issues that affect the people's welfare. The committee has the experience to answer questions and provide important information about the candidates and their policies.

While stressing that the state government would not accept violence from anyone, regardless of political ties, Aniagwu warned political actors against making statements that could incite violence. He said inflammatory remarks could lead supporters to take the law into their own hands.

The APC campaign spokesman said, "The governor has warned earlier that nobody is above the law. We will not tolerate violence, irrespective of the divide anybody belongs to.

"We will not get involved in rigging elections. We will show our report card."

Aniagwu expressed confidence that the achievements of the Tinubu and Oborevwori administrations would give the APC a strong case for re-election. He urged political leaders and their supporters to be careful with their public statements, especially as election time draws near. He also warned against comments that could lead to violence at polling units.

"We are not in a jungle republic. If there is anybody carrying out an action you consider not to be in line with the electoral guidelines, that is why we have the security agencies. Report them and let the law take its course," he stated.

He described calls for jungle justice as harmful to the peace and stability of Delta State. He urged residents not to let statements turn political arguments into violence.
