The Anambra Government has confirmed that a 10-year-old boy, who was badly beaten by his guardians in Awada, Obosi, is now getting medical care with state support.

Mrs Esther Onyekesi, the state Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, shared this news with reporters in Awka on Monday.

“I want to thank the kind people of Anambra for bringing this case to our attention.

“The boy is getting treatment now. My team and the woman leader from Obosi community visited him.

“The offenders must face the law for this horrible act. If you see something, please say something,” she said.

The News Agency of Nigeria reported that a video of the boy went viral on social media. In the video, his body showed burns and injuries all over, said to be caused by his guardian, a woman and her husband.

No reason was given for the abuse. However, another video on social media showed some residents of Awada Obosi going to the suspects' home to confront them for allegedly torturing the boy.
