Former Senate Leader and governorship hopeful for the All Progressives Congress in Oyo State, Senator Teslim Folarin, met with former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, and Senator Abdulfatai Buhari on Thursday. They held a closed-door meeting at an undisclosed location to discuss the party's future in the state.
Also at the meeting were former Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Rauf Olaniyan, and other key party leaders from all 33 local government areas in the state.
According to The PUNCH, Folarin, who organized the meeting, has not attended APC gatherings since Senator Sharafadeen Alli was named the party’s governorship candidate for the state.
An APC member who knows about the meeting told our correspondent in Ibadan that, "The leaders discussed strategies for working with other stakeholders of APC to strengthen the party’s structure and deliver Oyo for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election."
There have been protests from different groups regarding the selection of some candidates for APC positions in the 2027 elections. This situation prompted the party leadership to form the Senator Femi Lanlehin and Prof. Taoreed Adedoja Reconciliation Committee.
During the inauguration, the duo assured party members that all concerns and complaints raised by some stakeholders would be addressed. They aim to place the party in a strong position to win the general elections next year. They also promised that "No aggrieved aspirant would be left behind in the current reconciliation efforts."
State party chairman Moses Adeyemo urged committee members to use their goodwill, wisdom, and experience to resolve all grievances that may have come up from the party’s congresses and primaries. This is to ensure that APC approaches the upcoming elections as a united and strong family of progressives.
