The Ondo State Police have arrested a 27-year-old man named Solomon Onaola. He is accused of abusing a 15-year-old girl in Omifon, Odigbo Local Government Area of the state.
The police shared this information in a statement on Tuesday. The statement was made by DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the Police Public Relations Officer.
Jimoh explained that the case was first reported at the Odigbo Divisional Police Station. It was later moved to the Gender Based Offences Unit for a deeper investigation.
"Initial investigation showed that on 2nd August 2026, the guardian of the girl went to the police station. She said that the 15-year-old girl, who was working in her house, had often left home without permission.
"When the girl was asked where she went, she said that Solomon Onaola had been taking her to his late mother’s house in Omifon. There, he allegedly had unlawful sexual intercourse with her," the statement said.
The police started their investigation right after the report and arrested the suspect.
The girl is now receiving proper care, and necessary actions are being taken as per the procedures for cases involving minors and sexual offences.
CP Felix Ohagwu, the Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, has told the Gender Based Offences Unit to carry out a thorough investigation. They need to find out all the facts and ensure justice is served.
The police also emphasized their commitment to protect children and other vulnerable people from sexual abuse and violence.
They urged parents, guardians, and the public to stay alert and pay attention to the welfare of children. They should report any suspected abuse cases to the police immediately.
The suspect is still in police custody and will face charges in court once the investigation is complete.
