Junior secondary school students from the Federal Capital Territory displayed their smart city models at a competition organized by the Abuja Environmental Protection Board (AEPB) on Friday.

The competition aimed to inspire students to create innovative solutions for sustainable city living. Schools participating presented their city models to the judges.

In her welcome speech, AEPB Director Kate Ogbonna mentioned that involving schools in this event helps engage young people in discussions about the environment.

Ms Ogbonna said that using the environment wisely needs everyone, government, business, and individuals, to follow the right standards.

“The participation of schools in this annual cooperation remains a vital component of our environmental education efforts,” she said.

“By engaging young people in environmental conversation and activities, we are helping to ensure natural regeneration that better appeals to champions of energy development and environmental stewardship.”
