Accord Party wins Ife Central in Osun election by a large margin

The Accord Party has claimed victory in Ife Central Local Government Area during the Osun governorship election. They won with a margin of 5,258 votes over the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The announcement came from the Ife Central LGA collation centre at around 10:43 p.m. on Saturday. The result will be reviewed at INEC’s Central collation center in Osogbo before it is confirmed.

From the local government results, the Accord Party received 21,171 votes, while the APC got 15,913 votes.

Out of 39,330 votes cast, there were 39,990 accredited voters in the area. Of these votes, 38,380 were valid, and 950 were rejected.

Other parties received the following votes: AA got 137 votes; AAC had 90; ADC received 747; ADP got 86; APGA had 71; APM got three; BP had eight; NNPP received five; PRP got three; SDP had 12; YPP got 25; and ZLP received 102. The APP did not get any votes.

In total, there are 122,454 registered voters in the local government, with 39,990 accredited for this election.

This victory gives Accord Party candidate, incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke, a strong lead in the LGA against the APC candidate, Bola Oyebamiji.

Results from the 30 local government areas of Osun State are being shared at their respective LGA collation centres.

Earlier, PREMIUM TIMES reported that voting started around 8:30 a.m. in all polling units across the 30 local government areas in the state.

Voter turnout was impressive in some areas, while others saw low turnout. PREMIUM TIMES correspondents on the ground also noted several instances of vote trading at polling stations across the state.

Fifteen political parties took part in the election. So far, the results show a tight race between Mr. Adeleke of the Accord Party and Mr. Oyebamiji of the APC.

According to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Osun State has 2,399,233 registered voters. Out of this, 1,906,390 collected their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and were eligible to vote in the 332 wards and 30 local government areas of the state.
