The presidential candidate of the Action Democratic Party for the 2027 election, Ambassador Aliyu Bin Abbas, has chosen Hon. Chinazam Ike as his running mate.
This announcement was made on Tuesday through a statement from Abbas’ Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Jacob Dickson.
The statement says Ike’s selection shows the party’s goal of providing a united, inclusive, and youth-focused leadership for Nigeria.
Abbas stated, "This strategic decision reflects our unwavering commitment to building a united, inclusive, competent and youth-driven leadership that truly represents the aspirations of all Nigerians."
He added, "Together, we are determined to offer a credible alternative capable of restoring hope, strengthening national unity, promoting economic prosperity and delivering purposeful governance."
The statement described Ike as a politician, entrepreneur, and youth advocate from Ehime Mbano Local Government Area in Imo State. Ike has over twenty years of leadership and political experience.
He has held various leadership roles, including former Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Forum of National Youth Leaders of Political Parties in Nigeria, as well as National Youth Leader of the Action Democratic Party.
The statement also noted that Ike was the Project Director of Season.com Nig. Ltd., where he helped with sustainable housing development and economic growth.
"He is widely admired for his integrity, visionary leadership, inclusiveness and unwavering commitment to youth empowerment, national development and democratic values," the statement added.
The party stated that the Abbas-Ike ticket represents "a generational shift" and a new national vision based on competence, justice, equity, innovation, and service.
It also mentioned that this ticket symbolizes the unity of Nigerians from different regions, ethnic backgrounds, and religions in the quest for a more united and prosperous country.
The ADP called on Nigerians, especially youths, women, professionals, traditional institutions, and civil society organizations, to support their presidential bid in the 2027 elections.
"We call on Nigerians, particularly the youth, women, professionals, traditional institutions, civil society and all lovers of democracy, to join this historic movement as we work collectively towards birthing a New Nigeria founded on justice, opportunity, security and shared prosperity."
"Together, we shall build the Nigeria of our dreams," the statement concluded.
This announcement comes as political parties ramp up activities for the 2027 elections. There are ongoing discussions, coalition talks, and internal adjustments across the country.
While the ruling All Progressives Congress has endorsed President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima for a second term, opposition parties are working hard to position themselves as alternatives before the polls.
The Action Democratic Party aims to expand its national appeal by promoting youthful leadership and presenting a new governance agenda focused on national unity, economic recovery, and inclusive development.
