Air Peace starts new flights from Lagos to Conakry and Bamako

Air Peace has announced it is expanding its regional flights with the launch of services on the Lagos-Conakry-Bamako route. The airline believes this will help boost trade, tourism, and economic ties between Nigeria, Guinea, and Mali.

In a statement on Monday, Air Peace said the first flight took off from Murtala Muhammed International Airport Terminal 2 in Lagos on Saturday. This move is part of the airline’s plan to improve travel connections within Africa and give passengers easier access to places in West and Central Africa.

The airline mentioned that this new route shows its commitment to connecting African cities and making travel easier for business people, tourists, and families.

A team from Air Peace, led by the airline’s Chief Commercial Officer, Nowel Ngala, and Director of Flight Operations, Augustine Kamano, welcomed a group from Guinea. This included Guinea’s Minister of Transport, Ousmane Diallo, Nigeria’s Ambassador to Guinea, Umaru Kamfu, and other officials from the Nigerian community in Guinea.

During the welcome event, Diallo said Air Peace’s arrival in Guinea is a big step that will strengthen the relationship between the two countries.

He stated: “This new air connection is more than just another route. It represents stronger ties between Guinea and Nigeria and will facilitate greater movement of people, trade, and investment. Improved connectivity creates opportunities for businesses, enhances tourism, and brings our people closer together.”

Sekou, Director of the Civil Aviation Authority, also spoke. He said better air connections are key for Africa’s aviation industry and regional cooperation.

“We welcome Air Peace’s operations because improved connectivity is essential for economic growth and regional cooperation. Every new route helps make West Africa more accessible and competitive,” he said.

Nigeria’s Ambassador to Guinea, Kamfu, praised the airline for expanding its African network. He said the new route will help ease travel for Nigerians, Guineans, and other passengers in the region.

“Air Peace has continued to show confidence in Africa by opening new routes that promote integration. This service will strengthen bilateral relations while providing a more convenient travel option for our citizens and other travellers,” the ambassador said.

Ngala, the Chief Commercial Officer, responded by saying that the Conakry and Bamako flights are part of the airline’s strategy to build a strong African network that connects passengers from Nigeria to regional and international destinations.

“Today’s inaugural flight is another important milestone in our regional connectivity journey. We remain committed to building a strong African network that allows passengers from across Nigeria to connect conveniently through Lagos to destinations within Africa and beyond, including London and the Caribbean,” he said.

He added that Air Peace will keep investing in routes that bring African cities closer together, offering passengers greater convenience, more travel options, and better connectivity.

“Our vision goes beyond transporting passengers. We are creating opportunities for commerce, tourism, and cultural exchange by making travel across Africa easier and more accessible,” Ngala said.

After leaving Conakry, the inaugural flight continued to Bamako, where it landed at Modibo Keita International Airport. There, the airline was received warmly.

Air Peace was welcomed by the Deputy Director of Assistance Aéroportuaire du Mali, Abdrahamane Farota, and the Technical Director of Assistance Aéroportuaire du Mali, Bahide Konandji, who represented the Director General of Mali Airport, along with members of the Nigerian community in Mali.

Farota called the airline’s arrival a positive development for Mali’s aviation sector and its relationship with Nigeria. He said, “The start of this service will strengthen connectivity between Mali and Nigeria while opening new opportunities for commerce, tourism, and economic cooperation. We are happy to welcome Air Peace.”

Konandji, representing the Director-General of Mali Airport, expressed hope that this service would improve travel within the region.

“This new route is an important step towards deeper regional integration. It will make travel easier for passengers moving between Mali, Nigeria, and other destinations across Air Peace’s growing network,” he said.

With this new Lagos, Conakry, Bamako route, Air Peace now serves 13 regional destinations in West Africa, marking 11 years of operation.
