The Anambra State Police have put to rest a viral security warning on social media. The warning claimed that a military helicopter dropped unknown items in a bush between Nimo and Adazi-Nnukwu in Anaocha Local Government Area.

The police said the alert was a false alarm that could cause panic and shake people's trust in the state's security.

In a statement released on Thursday, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the police spokesperson, said that they quickly sent teams to check the area once the report came out online.

"After the report, we sent operatives to the area for verification and assessment. So far, our findings show that the area is calm, with no suspicious objects or security issues reported.

"Normal activities are going on in and around the area. Our security operatives are doing routine checks to ensure public safety and maintain trust," the statement said.

The Commissioner of Police for Anambra State, CP Ikioye Orutugu, reacted to the situation in the statement. He urged residents to stay alert but to ignore the false claims.

"The CP emphasized our commitment to proactive policing, intelligence-led operations, and working together with other security agencies and community members to keep peace in Anambra State.

"He also urged residents to verify any security information through official sources and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or security office," the statement concluded.
