The All Progressives Congress (APC) is confident about winning all positions in the local government elections happening this Saturday in Gombe State. The party’s National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, showed support for its candidates for chairmanship and councillorship positions.

During the flag presentation to APC candidates in Gombe on Wednesday, Governor Muhammadu Yahaya said the party is ready for another victory across the 11 local government areas in the state.

Yahaya stated that the APC is the leading political party in Gombe State. The party plans to strengthen its power through unity, performance, and support from the grassroots.

“We are determined to repeat our electoral successes and retain all elective positions under the APC platform. Our strength lies in our unity, commitment, and the confidence the people have in our leadership,” the governor said.

He pointed out that the party has been successful in past elections and encouraged members to stay focused and united as the polls approach.

Yahaya explained that the APC wants to keep control of all local government councils and legislative seats. They also want to boost governance at the grassroots level in the 11 local government areas and 13 Local Council Development Areas.

The governor praised President Bola Tinubu for his support of major infrastructure projects in Gombe State, especially the superhighway project that passes through parts of the North-East.

He said that the road project, which was inspected recently by the Minister of Works, David Umahi, will improve connectivity, boost business, and raise the living standards of the people.

“We appreciate President Tinubu’s commitment to the development of Gombe State and the North-East. These projects align with the Renewed Hope Agenda, which continues to inspire confidence among Nigerians,” he noted.

Yahaya reaffirmed his support for the Federal Government’s development plans. He mentioned that the impact of these plans is already visible in key sectors.

Earlier, Yilwatda commended Governor Yahaya for what he called significant achievements in infrastructure, education, and social development.

He said his visits to various communities and project sites showed clear evidence of governance benefiting the people.

“I visited communities, institutions, universities, road projects, and cultural centres. What I saw was democracy working for the people. The projects are touching lives and improving livelihoods across the state,” he said.

Yilwatda added that market women, traders, farmers, and other residents he spoke to were happy with the current administration’s performance.

He also praised President Tinubu for ongoing and planned federal infrastructure projects in Northern Nigeria, including key road links between Akwanga, Jos, Bauchi, Gombe, and Maiduguri.

According to him, these projects will enhance regional integration, support trade, and greatly cut down travel time in the area.

He also talked about plans for a railway line connecting Port Harcourt and Maiduguri and gas projects that aim to boost industrialisation and improve energy access.

Yilwatda urged APC leaders and supporters to continue their efforts in mobilising voters ahead of the local government elections. He believes the party’s popularity comes from its dedication to development and service to the people.

“APC remains firmly rooted among the people. Our success is based on good governance, development, and our commitment to improving the lives of citizens,” he said.
