The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, has won in Obokun Local Government Area during the Osun governorship election.
Mr Oyebamiji beat his nearest rival, the Accord Party candidate and current governor, Ademola Adeleke, by 4,097 votes.
The final results were announced at the Obokun LGA collation centre around 11:15 p.m. The APC got 16,120 votes, while the Accord Party received 12,023 votes.
In total, 29,147 votes were cast, with 28,687 valid votes and 460 rejected votes.
Other parties had these results: ADC, 205 votes; ADP, 99; AA, 47; APGA, 42; AAC, 28; ZLP, 84; APM, 11; YPP, 14; APP, two; BP, four; NNPP, three; PRP, one; and SDP, four.
The result from the LGA collation centre still needs final approval from the INEC Returning Officer at the main collation centre in Osogbo. There, results from the 30 local government areas will be collected and announced.
Fifteen political parties are taking part in this election. So far, results from polling units show a tight race between Mr Adeleke of the Accord Party and Mr Oyebamiji of the APC.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) reports that Osun State has 2,399,233 registered voters. Out of this number, 1,906,390 people collected their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and were eligible to vote across 332 wards and 30 local government areas in the state.
