The All Progressives Grand Alliance candidate for Ebonyi North Senatorial District, Chikaodili Ojemba, has asked party members to stay calm after the murder of their supporter, Mr Onwe Ubochi.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Ubochi was killed by unknown assailants after he attended an APGA event in the area on Wednesday.
Ojemba made this appeal while talking to reporters on Friday. He led party leaders in visiting Ubochi’s family at Umuogudu Oshia, Ngbo, in Ohaukwu Local Government Area of the state.
He described the murder as a tragic event and promised that everything would be done to seek justice.
“The party faithful should remain calm and obey the law as we trust the state government and security agencies to find the killers.
“The grief touches not just the family but all of us. Together, we will get justice for the bereaved,” he said.
He also called on security forces to act quickly in identifying Ubochi’s killers. He mentioned that the death is a big loss for both the family and APGA in the state.
“This is a plea for urgent action from security agencies. It is very sad that a man of his age would die in such a way.
“Those behind this terrible act must be found through a thorough investigation and face the law,” he said.
Ojemba assured that the party would support Ubochi’s family during this tough time. He encouraged them to know they are not alone.
“APGA is a peaceful and law-abiding party that deals with issues legally and not through violence,” he said.
The Ebonyi Police Command also released a statement confirming the incident and that investigations have begun.
