Former Senator Ifeanyi Araraume, who served Imo North, has rejected a statement going around on social media that claims to be from him regarding the Imo North Senatorial primary. He called it false, unauthorized, and the work of troublemakers.
In a statement released on Wednesday by his Communications team, Araraume made it clear that he did not write or approve a publication titled “A Message of Gratitude, Unity, and a Clarion Call to Rebuild Okigwe Zone.” He said this publication was made up to mislead people, twist his views, and stir up unnecessary conflict in the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo State.
The former senator reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC, stating that he is “a steadfast, disciplined and committed member” of the ruling party. He is waiting for the party’s official stance on the Imo North Senatorial primary and has not announced himself as the APC candidate.
“As a firm believer in democracy and party loyalty, Senator Araraume is patiently waiting for the party’s official stance and final decision on the Imo North Senatorial Primary,” the statement said. It also mentioned that, against claims in the false publication, Araraume “has not declared himself the party’s candidate and will only speak through recognized and authorized channels.”
The former senator also denied rumors of a rift between him and the Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma. He described their relationship as friendly and based on mutual respect. “Any suggestion of disagreement, hostility or political friction between them is just in the wild imagination of those behind the false publications and should be ignored,” the statement said.
Araraume emphasized his dedication to fostering unity within the APC, saying that the party can only succeed if its members work together. He accused the writers of the false statement of trying to create division within the party and misrepresent his opinions.
“The documents are the work of mischief makers and political opportunists whose goal is to create division, misrepresent his views, and stir up conflict where there is none. Their desperate attempt to weaken the unity and stability of the party will not succeed,” the statement said.
He urged APC members, the people of Imo North, residents of Imo State, the media, and the public to ignore the misleading publication, labeling it as false. Araraume also expressed his support for President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and promised to keep working for the unity and development of Imo State and Nigeria through lawful means.
