Atiku Says Tinubu is 90 Years Old and Sick

Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the opposition African Democratic Congress (ADC), has said that President Bola Tinubu is 90 years old and not in good health. This comes as Tinubu prepares to run for re-election in the 2027 general elections.

Atiku made these claims in two interviews with the BBC, one in Hausa and the other in English, which were released on Friday.

“I have a president who is 90 years old now and who is sick. I am healthy; I am strong. So why would I not make my services available to my fellow countrymen?” Atiku said.

In the Hausa interview, the anchor, Madina Maishanu, asked Atiku why he continues to run for president even though he will be 80 by 2027. He replied, “Do I look like an 80-year-old man?”

“Atiku added, “Nigerians that voted for President Tinubu who is 90 did not bother about his age, why not me?”

TheCable reported that back in 2020, Atiku wished President Tinubu a happy 68th birthday and sent his best wishes.

Atiku posted at exactly 7:51am on March 29, 2020, when he was the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He wished Tinubu many more years in good health and strength.

“On behalf of my family, I wish you, @AsiwajuTinubu, a happy 68th birthday. I also pray many more years for you, in good health and strength. Best wishes. -AA,” Atiku wrote, tagging Tinubu.

According to Atiku's 2020 post, Mr Tinubu would be 74 years old in 2026. The biography on the APC website also states that the president was born on March 29, 1952.

But now, in a surprising change, Atiku claims that Tinubu is actually 90 years old. He said he has proof to support this claim, which he plans to present in court.

“I have evidence that he is (90), and I will present it in court.”

As of now, the presidency has not officially responded to Atiku’s claims.
