Bandits kill soldier and officer in Kaduna ambush

Armed bandits have killed an officer and six soldiers after ambushing Nigerian Army troops in Rigachiku. This community is located in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The attack happened on Monday while the troops were returning from a mission. They had just completed a clearance operation where many terrorists were killed.

Security sources told PR Nigeria that a fierce gunfight broke out between the troops and the terrorists. Many terrorists were reported killed in this clash.

This ambush followed weeks of military operations along the Zaria-Kaduna highway. During these operations, many terrorists were reportedly killed.

The Nigerian Army has not released an official statement about this attack. An inquiry sent to its spokesperson, Appolonia Anele, has not received a response.

Reinforcement operations have been launched in the area. This is to prevent further attacks and to track down the bandits responsible.

Kaduna State has faced years of violence. This includes communal clashes and conflicts between farmers and herders. Recently, this situation has turned into banditry and terrorism. Communities in Igabi, Birnin Gwari, Chikun, Kagoro, Kachia, Jema’a, and Kajuru are among those affected.
