The Federal High Court in Abuja sentenced Muhammad Sani on Monday. He is an associate of Danranmi, a well-known bandit who supplies weapons to kidnappers and other criminals. Sani received 20 years in prison for his actions.

Judge Emeka Nwite gave the sentence after finding Mr Sani guilty. He hid information that could have helped catch Danranmi.

The judge sentenced him to 20 years for each of the first two counts. There is no option for a fine.

Mr Nwite said the sentences will run at the same time, starting from January 11, 2023. That is the date when Sani was arrested.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that the Department of State Services (DSS) charged Sani with four counts related to terrorism.

This crime goes against Section 26(1) of the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act 2022. It also falls under Section 16(1)(b) of the same Act.

Mr Sani was arrested and taken to court by the State Security Service (SSS).
