Afrobeats star David Adeleke, known as Davido, has raised concerns about a possible plan to arrest members of the Accord Party before the governorship election in Osun State on Saturday.
Davido shared this warning in a post on his official X handle on Thursday. He urged party members and their supporters to stay alert and safe.
The singer believes the Accord Party, which his uncle and current Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, is representing for re-election, is on track for victory.
“Accord members, stay safe! Just got intel, the next few hours they want to start arresting our people for nothing!
“The plan cannot work! Stay safe! Mount your guard! We are coasting to victory,” Davido wrote.
His claims come at a time of increased security worries and political tension in Osun State as the election approaches.
There have been reports of violence and threats among political supporters. Rival parties are also exchanging accusations regarding the tense political situation in the state.
Adeleke has also claimed that the ruling All Progressives Congress is using federal agencies to intimidate his supporters before the election.
The APC, on the other hand, has denied any plans to use federal power to affect the election results.
As of the time of this report, there was no official comment from the police or other security bodies regarding Davido’s claims.
