Dele Momodu Advises Tinubu to Focus on Achievements for 2027 Election

Dele Momodu, a leader in the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has called on President Bola Tinubu to run for re-election in 2027. He believes that Tinubu should focus on what his administration has achieved instead of just making promises. Momodu said Nigerians will judge the government based on its actual record in office.

During an interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Monday, Momodu pointed out that the outcome of the upcoming presidential election will depend on how Nigerians view the performance of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He stated that President Tinubu does not have any personal issues with Nigerians. But he needs to show voters that his administration has delivered real results.

"The 2027 election will not be difficult for Tinubu if he can show the records of his performance. Nobody hates him personally. Nobody wants to pick him out because they just don’t like him. It is about performance," Momodu said.

Momodu also criticized the APC for blaming past governments for Nigeria’s economic and governance problems. He reminded them that they have been in power since 2015.

He said that if Tinubu's government took over a struggling economy, Nigerians should judge it based on what it has done to improve the situation.

"What we see is APC abusing itself and its predecessors, saying they inherited a useless government and economy. I have never seen a place where a party destroys its own predecessors like APC," he added.

Momodu challenged the government’s performance further, asking, "Now, let’s assume President Tinubu inherited a bad government. What has he done to change the direction of his predecessor and change the lives of the people?"
