Rotimi Stephen, the lawyer for popular DJ and TikTok star Ademola Abiodun, known as DJ Chicken, has said that his client has been arrested and is now in police custody.
In a video on his Instagram page on Thursday, Stephen claimed that DJ Chicken was picked up in Ikeja and taken to the police station.
He suggested that the Department of State Services might also be involved, claiming that the arrest links to a video DJ Chicken posted recently where he made comments about the President’s son.
Stephen said, “So, DJ Chicken is now with the authorities. He was arrested at Ikeja and he is now at Ikeja Police headquarters but I am very sure it is the DSS. He was arrested in connection with the statement he made some days ago about the son of the president, Seyi Tinubu.”
He asked DJ Chicken's fans and anyone who knows people in the Presidency to help secure his release. He pointed out that the video believed to have caused the arrest is already out for everyone to see.
Stephen described DJ Chicken as someone he has mentored and supported over the years, saying it is part of his effort to guide young people.
He pleaded, “Please, fans and well wishers please. People that like Chicken and people that are close with the presidency please forgive Chicken. He is not that okay. We are just managing him. Chicken is my own personal project. It is my own part of giving back to the society.
“I just picked interest in him as a criminal lawyer. We are just managing him and he knows. He is still part of the society. We are begging please. Government should please forgive him. We will do everything.”
Frustrated by the situation, the lawyer said he is not sure of the next steps.
“I don’t know what to do again. They should please,” he said.
DJ Chicken is known for his bold and often controversial posts on social media. Recently, he released a video where he made comments about the President’s son.
In the video, he said in Yoruba, “Tinubu, you can’t win the election. If you win, I will kill Seyi Tinubu. I won’t say more than that.”
The video quickly attracted a lot of attention online.
As of the time of this report, there has been no official word from the Nigeria Police Force or the Department of State Services about DJ Chicken's arrest or the reasons behind it.
