Ebonyi residents from various communities in Afikpo Local Government Area have shown their support for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Ifeanyichukwuma Odii. They made this known on Wednesday as they endorsed him for the upcoming gubernatorial election on Saturday, February 6, 2027.

The residents believe that Odii has the right qualities, experience, and connections to improve the situation in Ebonyi State if elected governor.

At the event called "Street Endorsement for Odii" in Afikpo, Mrs Chinyere Nwele, the PDP Woman Leader in Ebonyi State, spoke about the importance of Odii's candidacy. She said it was the right time for the state to break free from godfatherism, which she claims has hindered its growth.

She stated, "Ifeanyichukwuma Odii is the only option left for the Ebonyi people to show direction and provide the needed leadership. With the way the state is currently governed, if we don’t join hands to bring somebody who has the capacity and competence to lead, we are all headed for a serious problem."

Nwele continued, "AnyiChuks has the capacity, the competence, the integrity, the experience, the exposure, the contacts to liberate Ebonyi State. Therefore, it will be a huge mistake on the part of our people to return someone without the experience, focus and love for Ebonyi people to govern Ebonyi State again come 2027. We have to all join hands to save Ebonyi State; and the only way this can be possible is by strongly standing with and supporting the PDP candidate, Odii, come 2027."

Mrs Maria Nwachi, the PDP senatorial candidate for Ebonyi South Zone and a member of the Oha Isu community, also urged the people to support Odii's governorship bid. Nwachi, a former lawmaker representing the Afikpo North-East Constituency, encouraged the people to use their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to secure a better future in the upcoming elections. She said that with Odii as governor, the state would have a brighter future.

She said, "Odii is the only one who understands and knows the true feelings of Ebonyians at this time. He is humble. He is accessible. He doesn’t discriminate against the old and the young, against the poor and the rich, against the black and the white."

Nwachi compared Odii's potential leadership to the changes happening in Abia State under Governor Alex Otti. She said, "Look at the transformation going on in Abia State currently under Governor Alex Otti. That’s how it should be across board, from one state to another. This is what AnyiChuks is coming to do in Ebonyi State. And he can’t do it alone; he needs me and you, and he needs everybody on board."

Mr Iheukwumere Okogwu-Otu, the PDP House Assembly candidate for Afikpo North-East Constituency, described the event as an important move to restore the pride of Ebonyians regarding their political choices in 2027.

Okogwu-Otu, who is from the Mgbo community in Afikpo LGA, urged the people to support the PDP gubernatorial candidate. He said, "We are all currently facing the mess going on in our state today. It’s now left for us to choose wisely those to lead us come 2027. We didn’t just gather today to endorse AnyiChuks; we have gathered to express our confidence and belief in a man that can lead the state out of its present doldrum."

Ewa Chukwumaijem, from Amasiri and also the House of Assembly candidate for Afikpo North-West State Constituency, called for support for the PDP candidate. He urged residents to prepare by getting their PVCs ready ahead of the elections.
