Emmanuel Emenike blasts governors for misusing funds

Former Super Eagles striker, Emmanuel Emenike, has called out some state governors for misusing public funds. He said Nigeria has turned into an “embezzlement ground.”

Emenike shared his thoughts on Instagram on Wednesday. He accused some governors of not having any plans for their states and only focusing on stealing public money.

He also took aim at security personnel, saying they support political leaders even though they are struggling financially.

“The arrogance and confidence in some of these governors make me sick. A lot of them don’t have good plans for the future of their state. Zero plans; they just embezzle money, and the police and army still follow them with empty stomachs. Jokers,” he said.

“Nigeria is finished and gone. We thought it was a country when we played, not knowing that it is an embezzlement ground. Embezzlement group of companies,” he wrote.

Although Emenike did not mention any specific governor in his post, his comments are clear.

Emenike represented Nigeria from 2011 to 2015. He made his international debut in February 2011 and retired from the national team in October 2015. He scored nine goals in 37 matches for the Super Eagles.

He was an important part of the team that won the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa. This was Nigeria’s third continental title.

Emenike finished as joint top scorer with four goals and was named in the team of the tournament after Nigeria defeated Burkina Faso 1-0 in the final to take the title.
