The family of Nwachi Nwokorie, a Nigerian man living in the UK, is in deep sorrow after his sudden death on August 4. He leaves behind his wife, Emmanuella Offor, and their six-month-old child.
The family is now asking for help to bring Nwokorie's body back to Nigeria for burial.
Offor shared the sad news about her husband's passing in a GoFundMe fundraiser that our reporter saw on Tuesday.
She mentioned that her husband died unexpectedly on August 4, leaving her to take care of their baby.
"With a very heavy heart, I share that my wonderful husband, Nwachi Nwokorie, passed away suddenly on August 4," she said.
Offor described Nwokorie as a kind and gentle man. She said he was a loving husband who was thrilled about raising their child.
"He was a kind, gentle soul, a devoted partner, and so proud to be a father," she said.
The couple has one child, a six-month-old baby whom Nwokorie adored.
"We have one precious blessing together: our first baby, just six months old. He loved our little one deeply, and was so happy building our family with me," she said.
Offor explained that her main goal now is to bring her husband’s remains back home for a proper farewell and burial among family and friends.
"My greatest wish is to bring him home for his final farewell, so he can rest peacefully among his family and loved ones," Offor said.
However, she mentioned that the expenses for transporting the body and arranging the funeral have become hard for her to manage alone.
"Arranging his transport home and memorial costs is very heavy for me to bear alone right now," she said.
The widow is reaching out to the public, friends, and well-wishers for help with the costs of repatriating the body, funeral expenses, and taking care of their infant.
"I humbly reach out for your kind support. Any amount you can give, big or small, will go directly toward bringing him home to rest properly, covering funeral and memorial expenses, and caring for our six-month-old baby through this painful time," she said.
Offor also mentioned that prayers and other forms of support would mean a lot to her as she deals with her husband’s loss while caring for their young child.
"Every gift and prayer means the world to us," she said.
As of now, £9,656 has been raised towards the £16,000 goal.
