A 47-year-old technician, Idris Clement, was killed early Saturday morning during a robbery in the Shagari area of Akure South Local Government Area, Ondo State.

The incident happened around 1 a.m. A group of at least three armed men attacked his home. Before breaking into the Clement family compound, the robbers had already hit two nearby houses. Mr Clement tried to defend his family. He confronted the attackers but was attacked with axes and cutlasses before being shot. He was rushed to the hospital but died from heavy blood loss.

Mr Clement was a father of five and a well-known technician who fixed air conditioners and freezers. His son, AbdulFatai Clement, described the attack as heartbreaking, saying his father was outnumbered by the armed gang. A close friend, Hakeem, remembered Mr Clement as a "popular, humble and kind-hearted" man who always wanted others to succeed. His widow, Taibat Clement, shared that her husband was hardworking, peaceful, and responsible. She has called on the state government and security agencies to ensure that the attackers are brought to justice.

The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed that they have arrested one suspect linked to the robbery and murder. Police Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Abayomi, said the suspect is helping the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCID) with their investigation. Mr Abayomi assured the community and the grieving family that, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Felix Ohagwu, the police are actively searching for the other members of the robbery gang. He promised that everyone involved will face the law.
