Fire Breaks Out at Gombe Technology Centre

A fire broke out at the Technology Incubation Centre, close to the Police Headquarters in Gombe, on Friday. The fire affected five shops and damaged property worth about N4 million.

The Federal Fire Service, Gombe State Command, said their quick response helped stop the fire from spreading. They saved property valued at N15 million.

The fire service got a distress call about the fire at 10:14 a.m. They quickly sent a multipurpose water tender to the scene.

The firefighting team, led by ASF II Mukhtar Shehu, with IF Bernard driving, started their work as soon as they arrived. They managed to put out the fire using one medium jet of water.

The FFS reported that they saved four out of the five affected shops during the operation. After putting out the flames, the team checked the area thoroughly and found no risk of re-ignition.

ASF MB Muazu, the command’s Public Relations Officer, said, "The Federal Fire Service, Gombe State Command, has successfully contained a fire outbreak involving five shops at the Technology Incubation Centre, near the Police Headquarters, Gombe."

Muazu also stated, "Four of the five affected shops were successfully saved, with property estimated at N15 million salvaged, while the estimated loss stood at approximately N4 million."

The fire service team returned to the station around 11:09 a.m. after making sure the fire was completely out.

The command reiterated its promise to respond quickly to emergencies and to protect lives and property. Muazu urged the public to report fire incidents immediately and to follow fire safety tips to avoid unnecessary losses.
