The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Edo Sector Command, has said they will not take part in the local government election in Edo on Saturday. They stated this is because they did not receive an invitation.

Preye Bedford, the State Sector Commander, shared this news in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Benin.

He explained that their absence from the election is due to not being officially invited by the election stakeholders. "My command is not involved. Well, we weren’t invited," he said.

When asked about the 12-hour movement restriction from 6:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Bedford said that regular operations would be put on hold. He mentioned that they would look at the situation before making any decisions on traffic control.

"We will only assess the situation before we know what to do," he noted.

NAN also reported that the Edo State Independent Electoral Commission has cleared 12 political parties to take part in the elections across the 18 local government areas in the state.
