The Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress in Gombe State, Abdulrahman Buba Zaune, has left the party right away.

Zaune shared his decision in a resignation letter dated August 5, 2026. He sent this letter to the Chairman of the ADC in Zaune Ward, Dukku Local Government Area.

In the letter, which our reporter saw on Thursday, Zaune thanked the party for letting him serve in many roles. These roles included positions at the local government, state, and national levels.

"I sincerely appreciate the political party for the opportunity to serve in different capacities at the local government, state and national levels. I therefore wish the party well," Zaune said.

Zaune did not mention where he plans to go next after leaving the party. This has led to rumors that he might join the ruling All Progressives Congress.

His resignation comes just a day after the APC governorship candidate in the state, Jamilu Gwamna, visited Dukku Local Government Area, where Zaune is from.

The timing of his exit has raised political interest. This is especially true as parties gear up for the 2027 governorship election in the state.

Zaune’s departure follows weeks after the ADC State Secretary, Ahmed Gana, also left the opposition party. Gana then joined the APC to support Gwamna’s governorship plans.
