Government's Actions Harming Political Parties, Says DLA Chair

The national chairman of the newly registered Democratic Leadership Alliance, Mr. Samuel Memeh, has pointed out that the Federal Government's intolerance and straying from the constitution are causing problems for many political parties in Nigeria.

Memeh spoke in Osogbo during his official visit to the Osun State chapter of the party on Tuesday. He assured everyone that the DLA will operate according to the rules of the constitution.

The DLA chairman said the party's vision is to create a Nigeria where the government serves the people. He added that the party aims to provide Nigerians with a trustworthy option based on good leadership, integrity, accountability, innovation, economic productivity, and governance focused on the people.

He stated, "We believe that Nigeria’s greatest challenge is not a lack of resources but a deficit of purposeful leadership. Our mission is therefore to develop leaders who possess the competence, character and courage to transform our nation."

Memeh noted that the current government is intolerant of other political parties. He said, "When you investigate carefully, you will see deviation from the constitution of the parties. Several activities by the leadership of the parties thereby creating room for litigations."

On the upcoming Osun governorship election, Memeh mentioned that the DLA will not put forward a candidate. However, he said the party will decide who to support when the time comes.

He urged the people of Osun to stay peaceful during the election process and to use their democratic rights wisely.

Earlier, the acting chairman of the DLA in Osun State, Tosin Odeyemi, shared that party members are ready to work hard and build the party's structures across the 332 wards in the state.
