The Asiwaju Mandate Group has started a new grassroots campaign across Ondo State. The leaders promise to keep engaging with political players and residents as we head towards the 2027 general elections.
The group announced this in a statement on Friday after holding meetings in all 18 local government areas of the state.
These meetings included members of AMG, leaders of the All Progressives Congress, former political office holders, and other participants.
Asiwaju Olumuyiwa Asagunla, the Director-General of AMG, spoke about the campaign. He said the group wants to stay in touch with the grassroots.
Asagunla stated, "Continuous engagement is necessary to maintain a strong and effective grassroots organisation."
He emphasized that political outreach should not only happen during elections. Regular communication with members, stakeholders, and communities is key.
He added, "The simultaneous meetings were also intended to strengthen coordination across the 18 local governments, listen to issues from the grassroots and ensure that information about the policies and programmes of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration continues to reach the people."
The director-general mentioned that AMG is working to create a structure that engages different groups in society, such as youths, students, and women.
He noted, "The task ahead requires AMG to do even more, particularly as the 2027 election approaches," and highlighted that the group would step up its mobilization and engagement efforts.
Asagunla pointed out that AMG aims to support Tinubu's re-election. He said the achievements and reforms of the current administration make it vital for the group to expand its grassroots outreach and communicate its message better throughout the state.
He stressed that the strength of any political group depends on its ability to connect with people at the ward and local government levels.
The meetings saw the attendance of AMG members, APC leaders, and stakeholders from the 18 local government areas. This included former members of the National Assembly and State House of Assembly.
The statement also noted that former senators and leaders of other political parties, who have now joined the APC, participated in the meetings.
Participants discussed AMG’s activities, grassroots coordination, and plans for keeping the public engaged as the 2027 elections get closer.
