The spokesman for Ademola Adeleke's campaign, Pelumi Olajengbesi, has promised to defeat Oluwole Oke, the current member for Oriade/Obokun in the House of Representatives, in the 2027 election.

Olajengbesi is the Accord Party candidate for the constituency. He said he was motivated by the recent Osun State governorship election results. He claims he beat Oke in the two local government areas that make up the federal constituency.

Oke has been in the House since 2003 and is a member of the All Progressives Congress.

In a statement in Abuja on Wednesday, Olajengbesi, who is also a lawyer and activist, said the governorship election results show that people in the constituency are ready for a change in 2027.

He stated, “I defeated Oluwole Oke in the Osun governorship election. In Oriade, Accord got 21,343 votes, while APC had 14,863. In Obokun, Accord had 12,023, while APC scored 16,120. The total votes for Accord were 33,366 while APC had 30,983, defeating him by a 2,383-vote margin.

“My ambition rests on several strategic arguments, shifting political dynamics, and grassroots narratives. I’m a necessary intervention against political monopoly. Wole Oke has held the Green Chamber seat since 2003. A 24-year continuous recycling of leadership has stagnant ideas and stifled the growth of our constituency.”

Olajengbesi's announcement comes as political activities heat up for the 2027 general elections. Aspirants and political parties are starting to get ready for the polls.

He emphasized that his candidacy aims to end what he calls long-term political dominance in the constituency. He wants to bring fresh representation to the National Assembly.
