The House of Representatives has changed the leaders of several committees after some recent shifts in its minority caucus leadership.
Speaker Abbas Tajudeen shared the news during an emergency meeting on Monday. He said the changes were needed because some lawmakers took on new roles in the minority leadership.
In the new setup, the House Committee on Special Duties, which was led by the new Minority Leader Fred Agbedi, will now be chaired by Aliyu Madaki. Madaki was the deputy minority leader before this change.
Also, Ali Isa, who was the former minority whip, is now the chairperson of the House Committee on Shippers Council. He replaces Abdulsamad Dasuki, who recently became the deputy minority leader.
New Appointments
The House Committee on Small and Medium Enterprises was previously chaired by Mansur Soro. Now, Pascal Agbodike will take over after Soro was named the minority whip.
In another change, Kelechi Nwogu has been appointed chairperson of the House Committee on Hydrological Services. He takes over from Mr Agbodike.
