Yoruba activist Sunday Adeyemo, known as Sunday Igboho, has sent a strong message to the Fulani community in Igboho, Oyo State. He warned them to stop the kidnapping and insecurity happening in the area.
In a video shared online on Saturday, Igboho spoke to Fulani leaders and community members during a meeting with traditional leaders and elders.
Igboho expressed his frustration over recent kidnappings, including the death of a pregnant woman and a ransom bearer. He accused some Fulani people of terrorizing the residents in his hometown.
"You cannot be kidnapping people in our hometown. You kidnapped someone in my hometown; she was pregnant, and you still killed her. The person who brought the ransom, you still killed him and spared only one person," he said.
He warned that he had held back because traditional rulers had asked him to be patient. "I am Sunday Igboho. I am calm because my fathers asked me to be calm with you. Let this be the last time such a thing will happen. Has any Fulani man been kidnapped in this town? Please talk to your people," he said.
Igboho also threatened, "I will enter your household and kill everybody. You can’t be kidnapping people in my hometown. I am Sunday Igboho, and I am from this hometown."
In the same speech, Igboho gave a two-hour deadline for the release of kidnapped victims. "I am giving you two hours to release the woman and the children you kidnapped overnight at their residence," he declared.
In another video, Igboho was seen leading his followers into an area he called the Oyo National Reserve Park. He claimed that armed herders had taken control of the place.
"Like this reserve area, our fathers were farming there until these Fulani people turned it into their settlement and started rearing cattle in this bush. Once we rescue those children, we must not see any of them in this bush," he said.
