Michael Johnny, an All Progressive Congress (APC) leader in Delta State, praised President Bola Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for their help in solving the ward delineation issues in Warri Federal Constituency.

Mr Johnny shared his appreciation during a news conference on Tuesday in Warri. He thanked Mr Tinubu for bringing together the three ethnic groups: the Ijaw, Urhobo, and Itsekiri.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reminds us that President Tinubu held a meeting with these groups on 1 June in Abuja to tackle the ongoing crisis over ward delineation in the area.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) carried out the ward delineation in Warri Federal Constituency after a Supreme Court ruling and released its final reports on 21 May in Asaba.

Mr Johnny also recognized Governor Oborevwori for organizing peace meetings to encourage unity and understanding among the ethnic groups in Warri. He called the governor a grassroots leader who understands how important peaceful living is for development.

He further commended the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, for his work in building relationships with neighboring kingdoms. He said this effort is a big step towards reconciliation and peace among the people.

Johnny noted that the people of Warri prefer peace and are more focused on tackling poverty, underdevelopment, and other social issues rather than engaging in ethnic disputes.

“Our problem is not with each other. Our challenge is poverty and underdevelopment. That is what we should all be facing together.

“We appreciate President Tinubu’s efforts in bringing back peace. We will keep supporting initiatives that encourage stability, economic growth, and national development,” he said.

Mr Johnny maintained that the representatives from the three ethnic groups accepted the agreements made during the discussions led by President Tinubu and the relevant authorities.

He added that these representatives have since drafted and submitted a report showing the agreement reached.

According to him, political stakeholders are already getting ready for the next phase of electoral activities as INEC has instructed.

He believes that the peaceful environment created by the actions of President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori will lead to more people participating in the democratic process.

Mr Johnny, however, urged traditional rulers in the area to continue collaborating and guiding their communities towards peaceful living, stressing that no community gains from violence and conflict.
