Leaders of the All Progressives Congress in Kogi State and some social groups have backed President Bola Tinubu for the 2027 elections. They also praised James Abiodun Faleke, who represents Ikeja Federal Constituency.
The support was shared in a statement on Thursday. The statement was signed by Enemona John for the Kogi State Advocacy Group for Peace and Development and Alhaji Ibrahim Mohammed for the Kogi APC Stakeholders Forum.
The groups called Faleke a "peace-loving" and "purposeful" leader. They said his work has helped both Kogi State and Nigeria as a whole.
The statement pointed out that Faleke cares about Kogi, even though he represents a Lagos constituency in the House of Representatives. Enemona said, "Hon. James Faleke is one of the most organised, purposeful and stable political figures in Nigeria today. He is effectively the ‘eyes and ears’ of the President in terms of grassroots developmental monitoring. His loyalty to the progressive cause is unmatched."
The stakeholders also showed confidence in the APC’s chances in Kogi State. They believe part of the party’s strength comes from Faleke’s influence and support. Mohammed said, "Because of Hon. Faleke’s direct involvement, loyalty and deep strategic input, we are confident in our ability to deliver Kogi State for the APC and President Tinubu in the upcoming elections."
He added that Faleke has helped many Kogi people get federal jobs in both civil service and political positions. The stakeholders responded to criticism from another group that targeted Faleke. They called the criticism politically motivated.
Mohammed said, "This is a classic Kogi-style political blackmail. These are desperate individuals who see the close relationship between Hon. Faleke and President Tinubu as a threat to their interests." He urged the Presidency to ignore the critics. He said, "We are asking the President not to give these actors any audience. President Tinubu is a veteran of Nigerian politics and cannot be deceived."
The groups also talked about Faleke’s contributions to security in Kogi State. They mentioned his donation of patrol vehicles to the new Smart Police Divisional Headquarters in Ekinrin-Adde. They said this gesture was praised by the Kogi State Government.
Enemona asked, "The man who once enjoyed such praise and commendation, when did he suddenly become a troublemaker in the state?" The stakeholders encouraged Faleke to keep his focus despite the criticism.
They said, "We appeal to Hon. James Faleke to disregard these elements. His legacy of peace, philanthropy and progress speaks for itself. Kogi State stands firmly with him, and we stand 100 per cent with President Bola Tinubu."
