The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Delta State has denied a viral report claiming that the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise in Akwukwu Igbo, Oshimili North Local Government Area was stopped because of a faulty machine.

In a statement on Friday, Nseabasi Udom, the Head of Voter Education and Publicity, said the report is false and misleading. He added that it did not come from the commission.

INEC stated that the registration exercise is ongoing, according to its approved rotation schedule. The commission also mentioned that the CVR was successfully held in Ibusa earlier on Thursday.

The registration center at Akwukwu Igbo will be back in operation from July 6 to July 10. This is part of the planned schedule for the local government area.

INEC urged residents of Akwukwu Igbo and nearby communities to ignore the viral message. They should rely only on official INEC channels for the right updates.

Eligible voters are encouraged to continue with their registration and updates as planned. There is no need to worry about cancellation or disruption.

INEC reaffirmed its promise to carry out a transparent, credible, and accessible CVR process across the state. They also assured all eligible residents of equal chances to take part in the electoral process.
