Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State has signed the state’s Open Government Partnership (OGP) State Action Plan III for 2026 to 2027. He believes that good governance relies on trust, openness, and listening to the people.

Governor Namadi shared this news on his verified Facebook page late Monday.

The governor explained that the signing came after a detailed briefing about how the action plan was developed and accepted.

He noted that government agencies, civil society groups, development partners, the private sector, and local citizens all worked together to create this plan.

“Listening to the presentation reminded me once again that real good governance rests on trust, openness, and a sincere readiness to hear the people we serve. That is precisely what this Action Plan stands for,” he said.

Governor Namadi thanked Deputy Governor Aminu Usman, the OGP Steering Committee, the Secretariat, and all the stakeholders who helped finalize the plan.

With this formal adoption, the governor instructed the ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) involved to focus on the commitments in the plan.

He emphasized that transparency, accountability, citizen participation, and better service delivery must be core to the administration’s policies.

Governor Namadi urged civil society groups, traditional and religious leaders, private sector representatives, development partners, women, youth, and persons with disabilities to stay involved during the implementation phase.

“Open government only works when everyone owns it, not just government,” he stated, adding that working together is key to rebuilding public trust in state institutions and making Jigawa State more responsive.

The signing of the document marks the shift from planning to execution. State authorities are expected to begin implementing the strategies across relevant sectors right away.

The Action Plan is based on four main commitments. These include improving fiscal transparency and accountability, increasing access to justice, promoting climate action, and strengthening anti-corruption and asset disclosure standards.
