Kebbi High Court Judge Kidnapped, Now Free

Faruk Bunza, a judge in Kebbi State High Court, was kidnapped at his home on 26 July. He has now been released after spending eight days in captivity.

The police, his family, and the State Ministry of Justice confirmed the judge's release on Monday.

Bashir Usman, the police spokesperson in Kebbi State, stated that Mr Bunza was freed earlier on Monday and is back with his family.

"With the judge now released, police and other security agencies have intensified investigative efforts to track down the perpetrators and bring them to justice," the statement said.

Mr Bunza was kidnapped in the early hours of Sunday, 26 July. He was taken by heavily armed bandits who stormed his home in Bunza Local Government Area.

This incident caused anger and fear in the state. The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) condemned the act, calling it a direct attack on the Nigerian judiciary and the rule of law.
