Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, who is the Vice-Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress, says the ticket with Peter Obi is unbeatable in trust and ability.
Kwankwaso made this statement during the News Agency of Nigeria Personality Interview Series on Sunday in Abuja.
He believes that their partnership can defeat any other candidate in the 2027 presidential election.
The former governor explained that their decision to team up was to create a balanced ticket that would bring Nigerians together, regardless of their region or religion.
He pointed out that the ticket combines Obi’s strong backing in the South with his own political influence in the North, forming a wide national political base.
"Nobody, no ticket, can beat our own in terms of credibility, capacity and, of course, love for the country.
"Even in terms of empathy for the poor who are suffering across the country today, no other contender can match us," he said.
Kwankwaso shared that his experience from the 2023 election has helped him understand Obi better. This has convinced him that they can work well together.
He stated that Nigeria needs change due to rising insecurity, poverty, poor infrastructure, and issues facing farmers.
He noted that removing the fuel subsidy has not improved life for Nigerians, while farmers continue to struggle due to cheap imported food.
The former governor of Kano State mentioned that the alliance between the Kwankwasiyya Movement, NDC, and Obi’s supporters aims to bring about democratic change like what happened in 2015.
He highlighted that their partnership is based on fairness, justice, and equity, saying both leaders are committed to making life better for Nigerians.
Kwankwaso said he accepted the vice-presidential role for the sake of national service, which should not just be seen as taking the number two spot.
