The Kwara State chapter of the African Democratic Congress has said it is ready for the 2027 general elections. The party believes that no intimidation or court actions will stop it from participating in the polls.

The party made this known in a statement on Wednesday. This followed a meeting of its State Executive Committee held at its secretariat in Ilorin, the state capital.

During the meeting, the State Chairman, Babatunde Muhammed, shared his belief in the ADC’s chances in the next elections. He said the party is focused on winning.

He stated, “The 2027 election is ours to win. No amount of intimidation and no level of judicial rascality can deter ADC from contesting and emerging victorious in flying colours.”

The party’s statement comes as there are legal battles about the status of some political parties. A Federal High Court had ordered the deregistration of the ADC and four other parties.

Muhammed praised the Court of Appeal for stepping in, noting that the appellate court’s decision boosted confidence in democracy.

He mentioned that the Appeal Court rejected the lower court’s judgment. It labeled the trial judge, Justice Peter Lifu, as ‘unfit to be a judge’ and put a hold on the deregistration order affecting the ADC and other parties.

The Kwara ADC urged all members to unite and called on party supporters in the state to ramp up grassroots mobilization ahead of the 2027 elections.

“Unity is the greatest need of this hour. This judgment has proven that the will of the people cannot be deregistered by any court,” the party stated.

It also encouraged candidates and supporters to engage actively with voters across the state.

“To all ADC candidates across Kwara: the time to work is now. There is no more time to waste. Let us take our message of rescue and rebuilding to every ward, every unit, every home.”

The party emphasized its commitment to issue-based politics and credible elections. It believes in restoring political power to the people.

The ADC expressed gratitude to its members for their patience during the legal challenges. It assured the people of Kwara that the party is ready to lead if given the chance in 2027.
