KWASU researchers win international and national grants

Four research teams from Kwara State University (KWASU) have won important research grants from two well-known funding bodies. This shows that the university is building a strong reputation for research quality.

On the international front, a research team led by Bolatito Olanipekun received a research grant of $43,913 from TWAS-UNESCO.

On the national level, three KWASU research teams successfully obtained funding through the 2025 National Research Fund (NRF) grant scheme.

The team headed by Abdulwaheed Musa got N37,590,000. Kehinde Alabi’s team secured N25,000,000. Another team led by Khafayat Olatinwo was awarded N20,435,900.

The Vice-Chancellor, Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, presented the award letters to the successful researchers. He congratulated them for their great achievement. He said their success shows the university's commitment to supporting meaningful research and innovation.

Mr Jimoh also urged the winners to guide younger researchers. He emphasized the need to create a solid research culture. This will help attract more competitive grants and improve the university’s global presence.
