Labour Party to Start Mobilisation After Court Ruling, Lagos Secretary

The Secretary of the Labour Party in Lagos State, Mr Sam Okpala, says the party is waiting for a court ruling before making full plans for the 2027 general elections.

Okpala shared this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos on Sunday. He gave an update on the party’s efforts for unity and reconciliation as the elections approach.

He explained that once the court gives its decision, the party would jump into action to begin preparations for the 2027 elections.

“By God’s grace, once we get our judgment, then we will swing into action. But for now, nothing much is happening on our own side,” he said.

Okpala also noted that the party is hopeful about its future. He said even if they do not reach their immediate political goals, there will still be chances in future elections.

“Like I said, if we didn’t do anything this time, there is still 2031,” he said.

NAN reports that this news comes as opposition parties and political groups are working to strengthen their structures and build alliances for the 2027 general elections.

When asked about the party’s plans to unite its members, Okpala said the party is still strong. He added that every member would feel included.

He is hopeful that things will become clearer after the court's ruling. This, he said, will help the party move forward with its political plans.
