Lagos Police Arrest Four Men Linked to Cultism, Seize Gun
Four men were arrested in Lagos for suspected cult activities. The police recovered a gun during their investigation and are looking for more suspects.

The Lagos State Police have arrested four men suspected of being involved in cult activities. This happened in the Lekki, Ajah, and Elemoro areas. The police also recovered a locally made gun from one of the suspects.
Abimbola Adebisi, the spokesperson for the police command, shared this information on X on Tuesday. The arrests took place between 2 and 9 October based on intelligence reports.
The suspects are Arisekola Ojo, 32; Oluwatobi Oyewole, 29; Oluwaseyi Odunewu, 32; and Olumagba Ifatope, 29. The police are investigating them for conspiracy and being part of an unlawful society.
The police found the gun when they searched Mr Odunewu's home. This search was based on information gathered during the questioning of the suspects. The police command said they are still investigating to find and arrest more people involved and to recover more firearms.

These arrests follow earlier police actions against suspected cult members in Lagos. In October 2025, PREMIUM TIMES reported that five suspected cultists were arrested after a fight in the Onireke and Isashi areas, which resulted in one death.
In July 2026, police arrested 135 suspected cultists during coordinated raids across the state and seized 26 firearms. The Commissioner of Police in Lagos, Tijani Fatai, stated that the police will keep working to break up cult groups and other criminal networks.
He encouraged residents to share credible information to help the police fight crime in their neighborhoods. He also warned anyone involved in criminal activities to stop immediately.
